The new Board Chairman of the South East Regional Health Authority (SERHA), Wentworth Charles has announced that a programme for the acquisition and installation of state of the art operating theatre lights at hospitals within SERHA has commenced following the recent installation of a new operating theatre light for Theatre 3 at the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH).
Mr. Charles said that KPH is the largest trauma centre in the public health system and it is required to carry out sophisticated surgeries and every effort will be made to improve the overall service to the public.
“This recent acquisition is most timely and it is SERHA’s intention to continue to acquire and replace all other outstanding lighting system that need to be repaired at all other hospitals within the region,” he added.
The warranty and maintenance of the equipment will be keenly observed, in addition to the establishment of a replacement fund to care for the equipment. The operating theatre light for Theatre 4 has been procured and will be installed in the coming month.
